U A E like many other countries, deals with the problem of overpopulation of homeless cats and dogs. But, unlike many other countries, it is twice as difficult to solve the overpopulation problem here. During our time spent in animal rescue work, we noticed that this is mainly due to various misconceptions regarding Spay/ Neuter (or Sterilization), which is the only humane solution to the problem of overpopulation. So, when a pet has an unwanted litter, people dump the pet and the litter on the road to starve and die. The ones who survive against all odds, are who we call strays/ street dogs. Their suffering on the streets then begin as they are left to fend for themselves. A second issue we came across is the negative stigma some United Arab Emirates  tend to have towards homeless dogs and cats!
