Spray & Neuter Awareness !

U A E like many other countries, deals with the problem of overpopulation of homeless cats and dogs. But, unlike many other countries, it is twice as difficult to solve the overpopulation problem here. During our time spent in animal rescue work, we noticed that this is mainly due to various misconceptions regarding Spay/ Neuter (or Sterilization), which is the only humane solution to the problem of overpopulation. So, when a pet has an unwanted litter, people dump the pet and the litter on the road to starve and die. The ones who survive against all odds, are who we call strays/ street dogs. Their suffering on the streets then begin as they are left to fend for themselves. A second issue we came across is the negative stigma some United Arab Emirates  tend to have towards homeless dogs and cats! Many would prefer to pay a Breeder or a Pet Shop (also contributors to the overpopulation problem) for a “purebred” dog or cat instead of adopting a “stray”. Also, many do not realiz

PEACE, LOVE & RESCUE STRAY ANIMALS IN U A E . A truly inspiring story by Solaman KH ~ A member of the amazing rescue group Care for the Voiceless ~ posted on Care for the Voiceless. " the story I'm going to say is true, when I was a kid, our uncle was raised by a heart attack, at least 45 years old. Those were the papers that were in the papers, and it was good to see the fish tanks and the people who have the blood pressure. Bought our fish a tank and took care of the fish, and the second harsha came back, uncle mala. This second story has happened to one of my friend (not too far) His kidneys were spoiled, and then it was surgery and made a kidney transplant, even a lot of day was a tough treat. The doctors said the surgery was successfully done but not to mention 100 % of the living in the living. In the meantime, my friend, the poor guy who was helpless on the streets of the family, he was taken away from the car. Family didn't like the cat because the cat

How to Humanely Deal with Feral Cats

Image
How to Humanely Deal with Feral Cats I t's a dilemma every cat lover faces: Do I feed the poor feral kitties or do I call animal control so they stop destroying my yard? As much as you may want to be the Mother Teresa of cats, it’s just not feasible to feed and care for them all. If you try, you’ll likely notice that the cat population around your house will explode. And we don’t want you to bankrupt yourself for the sake of those cute strays. Don’t worry: there’s a better way! Here’s what you need to know about feral cats and how to best deal with their cute, pleading Oliver Twist-like faces.                                                     What Are Feral Cats? Feral cats, stray cats, neighborhood cats, alley cats – each of these terms describes the same scenario: Cats without human homes. Now, before you start getting teary eyed and pledging to adopt every feral cat you find, we have some news for you: cats are meant to be wild. Don’t get us wrong: we love

Trap, Neuter, Release !

Image
How to Help Stray Cats?   Trap, Neuter, Release The TNR method of dealing with feral cats is the safest and most humane option for several reasons. First, trapping and turning feral cats over to shelters or pounds means they will likely be euthanized. Feral cats are not socialized to be pets; they grew up in the wild and it’s pretty dang hard to train them otherwise after that life. Cats that are unsafe to be adopted out are often put to sleep, which no cat-lover wants. Second, feral cats love their life! They want to stay outdoors, hunt, run, and nap in the sunshine. Let them live their lives outdoors – just.... not where they can ruin your gorgeous garden. Also, by trapping, neutering, and releasing feral cats, you can solve many other problems at the same time, including: Reducing flea infestation problems Reducing the number of feral cats by limiting reproduction Reducing the number of unsafe animals that may lurk around your neighborhoo

PEACE, LOVE & Caring for Feral and Stray Cats in Summer

Image
P PEACE, LOVE & Caring for Feral and Stray Cats in Summer It’s hard to be a feral or community cat. Spring and fall seem to last no time at all compared to cold, wet winters and scorching summers. For caregivers, summer brings a relief from worrying about ice, snow, and below zero temperatures, but has its own set of challenges including summer storms, heat advisories, and parasites. Simple kindnesses like providing shade and cool water and making sure that shelters are tick and flea-free can not only make feral kitties happier, they can save lives. If you’d like to give your ‘community critters’ a helping hand this summer, here are a few things you can do to help:Provide Shelter There’s no better way to beat the heat than a little shade. Offering feral and community cats a way to shelter from the sun is a great way to make their lives easier. Many pet and online stores offer shelters that are both insulated from the cold and reflective of sunlight and heat. But if you’
