Spay and Neuter stray Animals Champaign IN U A E - 2018 !

Deals with the problem of overpopulation of homeless cats and dogs. But, unlike many other countries, it is twice as difficult to solve the overpopulation  problem here. During our time spent in animal rescue work, we noticed that this is mainly due to various misconceptions regarding Spay/ Neuter (or Sterilization), which is the only humane solution to the problem of overpopulation. So, when a pet has an unwanted litter, people dump the pet and the litter on the road to starve and die. The ones who survive against all odds, are who we call strays/ street dogs. Their suffering on the streets then begin as they are left to fend for themselves. A second issue we came across is the negative stigma tend to have towards homeless  dogs and cats! Many would prefer to pay a Breeder or a Pet Shop (also contributors to the overpopulation problem) for a “purebred” dog or cat instead of adopting a “stray”. Also, many do not realize the cruelty behind Pet Shops and Br

Caring for Community Cats in Hot WeatherFollow these tips to keep outdoor cats cool and healthy in the summer Warm weather and high humidity can be dangerous for community (feral and stray) cats. Follow these general tips to keep cats who live outdoors cool and healthy. General tips for community cat care •Make sure the feeding station and shelter are in a place that's as shaded and cool as possible. If you're ever in doubt about whether a shelter, trap or any other place is safe for cats, follow this rule: If it's too hot for you to stay there for any period of time, it's too hot for the cats. •Keep the feeding station and shelter clean. • Provide lots of fresh water at all times. Place bowls in shaded areas, and put ice cubes in the water to keep it cooler for longer. Avoid putting water in the shelter, where it could spill and get the cats wet. • Protect the cats from fleas. If you see fleas on them, ask your veterinarian about flea preventative for the cats

Helping Stray Cats in Your Neighborhood by SAVE STRAY CATS IN AJMAN / SHARJAH - U A E. One day, you’re walking down your block and suddenly you spot a furry feline face poking out from behind a bush. Or perhaps a cat you’ve never seen before dashes across the yard and disappears under a parked car. You want to help, but what can you do? stray catThe first rule of helping stray cats: hands off! Don’t go chasing after him right then and there. It’s unlikely you’ll catch him but it is likely that you’ll frighten him. Even if you do manage to get close enough, you’ll be risking serious injury if you attempt to grab him. A scared cat can inflict a lot of damage very quickly. The second rule of helping stray cats: play detective. Is this a pet cat who was recently lost? A stray cat who has been on his own for a time but warms up to people once he gets to know them? A feral cat who by nature is wary of people and prefers living outside a traditional home? To find out, ask neighbo

Street cats, alley cats, wild cats, feral cats, homeless cats … there are a lot of different names we give to these free ranging felines. Most of the time, they take care of themselves, scavenging and hunting for their meals while also depending on the kindnesses of cat lovers, but things can get a lot chancier when the weather turns frigid. Before we go on, let’s consider why you might want to help your neighborhood’s feral cats. In any neighborhood that supports a healthy (i.e, neutered and released) feral cat population, rodent populations are kept in check, eliminating the need for harmful chemicals and poisons, and protecting the residents of these neighborhoods from the diseases and damage rodents can cause to life and property. Cats are a practical and “green” solution to this universal problem. In addition, a family and neighborhood commitment to caring for a controlled feral cat population teaches our children that we respect life and appreciate the work these cats do for u

Pledge Water for Birds and Animals this Summer !

Image
We placed  couple of clay bowls around 3-4 inches deep in and around our stray animals feeding stations in al nuaimiya 1 - 3 Ajman, UAE. Clay bowls are better than plastic or metal bowls because the water stays very cool even when temperature is touching 45- 50 degrees Celsius. When water puddles dry up during the summer –  birds are known to collapse from dehydration . Also clay pots are unlikely to be stolen if used in public places for stray animals.Do place bowls of water wherever possible. Even if you don’t like birds, this is the cheapest and most convenient way to do your bit for the environment.
